Eve Salt Lake City: Such a great change from First Night!

I don't know about anyone else but I was tired of the old and tired, family exclusive, dry(in all senses), and expensive First Night. I planned this year
to stay in, with friends and be bored. Then I heard about Eve: WOW what a change
this is going to bring to DSLC with it's amazing line up of events for ALL(young, old,
Republican, Democrat, saint and sinner alike!) Events are inside and out and there truly is something for everyone(including little Ms Cleo who may be attending the animal activities at the Gateway)
Check out the schedule and maps at their oh so glossy and easy to use website
From an art treasure hunt, to fireworks, to outdoor concerts to kids crafts all with free parking, dining discounts, and free transportation on the 31st this is the most bang for your $15 there is going to be on the big night and the 2 days before! I'll be there every day! I live in the middle of everything! All of the events are a short, free Trax ride away!

This morning

This is the view from my desk. SM on a meeting and Cleo ready for our daily run on the Seawall(I just imagine her saying in voice that doesn't sound all that unlike Marge Simpson with a Brooklyn accent "c'mon you ready to go or what?"

Lunch Time Concerts in the park!

Every weekday from 12-1(Lunch Hour)

Today I checked it out and it is SO MUCH FUN! I brought my lunch(to eat) my computer(to work) and my dog(to socialize and get some air) AH MULTITASKING....let's just say that living by the park feeds my addiction ;)
Cleo enjoying the concert(she scared away precisely 2 men who approached us from behind) so she stole the show a few times(luckily the wonderfully talented Marcia Knorr didn't seem to mind)

Dog Parking it....

Seriously it doesn't get any better than this:

I was, at the same time:
Answering emails(thank you free wireless in the park)
Making phone calls
excersising my dog
meeting new people
getting some much needed sun(let's face it...I'm pasty white)

I'm going to say it, it has to be done:
Nah Nah NahNah NAH!!!

Tanner Park(and Offleash Area)

YUM!!
This little park is pretty shall I say well thought out?
We took little(ok pudgy) Cleo for the first time this week and were pleasantly suprised by a few things:
1: The dogs and owners both were well behaved(not always the case....i must admit Cleo sometimes is the worst one....sigh....)
2: The off leash area was really spacious...

I would recommend giving it a whirl this spring(Wait...Spring!....where are you....did you get lost in the BLIZZARD??!!)

Picking up after the pooch.

While walking my dog on a day when the snow had all melted I noticed many, many shall we say specimens of downtown dog owner irresponsible activity.
Did you know that it is illegal to leave dog feces on state or city owned property(grass or any other surface) If a police officer were to catch you in the act of neglecting your doggie owner duties they can give you a ticket for up to $100!

Ticket aside often the few irresponsible dog owners often give us all a bad name. Just think of a non dog owner(or a dog owner who always picks up) who cannot enjoy their favorite park without watching where they step(and sit!) Public space is just that-don't ruin it for others!

So go out and buy a scooper or those handy little bags(sold at most grocery stores as well as Petco and Petsmart) and do your Dootie(haha)
